I have the bose system, I want to hook up an amp and i have the line level converter. Q: Automatic Mazda 6 having trouble shifting gears?
My mazda 6 is an automatic transmission. When I am just starting to speed up my car sort of jerks into the next gear. It always jerks right around the 20 KM/h mark. If I speed up REALLY slowly it doesnt do this. It also doesnt jerk once I am going a little faster.I hope I am explaining this well enough.. What could be the problem? I also wanted to put that it is a 2004 with less than 50,000 KM's on it

A: Have you driven the transmission fairly hard? It seems odd that you'd be having a transmission probably already. At 50,000 km you should still be under factory warranty though, shouldn't you? If so, take it back to the dealer today! If you're not still under factory warranty then I would try taking it into a transmission place and getting them to look at it. Maybe get a transmission service too ***shrugs***. How much H/P does the automatic Mazda 6 have? What size of engine does it have in it?

Q: What's the difference between a Mazda 3 and a Mazda 6?
Are they good cars? reliable? What is the average price? What is their depreciation value like? any other reccommendations? What are good features of it? safety? gas mileage? etc. I;m asking about the Mazda because I read about it in one of my bf's car magazines and it rated pretty high. I am going to buy a car in like 5 months and I will be just out of college and into the real world. I need something reliable and not too expensive. Everyone says a civic but EVERYONE has it. I really like the Lexus IS300, Acura TL, Corolla S (to give you an idea of the styles I like) but too expensive!

A: I didn't want to go with a Honda either in my search for a new car. I started out just as far in advace as you are. I spent A LOT of time researching many different models. I ultimately chose the Mazda 6. Initially, I was after the Mazda 3. I compared it across all the makes of cars and the value for my money was in the Mazda. The safety features come standard on 99% of their models while in Honda, you had to pay bookoo more to have the stuff added. Why was I set on the M3? I was coming out of a compact car and wanted to stay in the "compact" car class. I went to one of the local dealerships and test drove the 3. Great sprinty little car. Lots of fun to drive but there were some serious rear blind spots that I really didn't care for at all. Because the car I test drove didn't have leather seats, I asked the guy to show me something else with the leather for me to get an idea of the quality. That's how I came upon the Mazda 6. It is incredibly spacious inside the car and is lacking those bad blind spots that I saw in the 3. I took that car for a test drive and loved it just as much. In my opinion, the 3 would probably be a little more fun to drive. My ATX 6 seems a little sluggish sometimes. As far as gas mileage, I seem to be getting about 27 mpg in the 6 which is a nominal difference compared to the 3. That is a 50/50 mix in hwy city driving. My previous car was getting about the same mileage. It was a bit of a shocker going from a 12 gallon tank to 18, but I can drive about 150 to 200 more miles than with my previous car, so really, I'm filling up less often which is great to me. The safety features are invaluable! Everywhere I look in my car, there are air bags. Your insurance company will love you for ANY car you get with Side curtain airbags. And the insurance quotes I got for both the 3 and the 6; no more than $50 difference every 6 months. Edmunds claims the 6 to be in the top ten of the least expensive cars to insure. And I believe them. If you are going to stick with the base models of these cars, they will differ a lot in prices. Don't get confused with the sticker prices though. I paid $3k less than my sticker price. I probably could have gotten a better deal but I'm still happy with what I paid. Check out: www.edmunds.com www.consumerguides.com www.nadaguides.com They will give you good estimates on actual pricing in your area and give you an idea on their invoices, which is where you want your actual price to be close to. www.carbuyingtips.com Obviously tips on buying a car, but it helped me out a lot with explaining some of the things dealers will add to the car to jack up the price.

Q: Which car should I buy a 2009 malibu LT or 2009 mazda 6?
I'm thinking about buying my first NEW car i like the 2009 chevy malibu LT or the 2009 mazda 6 i sport I-4 or the s sport v-6 i'm planning on test drive them both ,but based on your experience which one of those car do you think is the best? if you own one of this cars what do you you like/hate about it? thank you.

A: Malibu. Personally, wouldnt go with either one as the 2009 Hyundai Sonata is the best one in this segment. But between the Mazda 6 and Malibu, the Malibu is a slightly better car. BTW, I am an ASE Auto Mechanic and also used car dealer. Just my opinion based on knowing both cars and having dealt with them. As far as resale value, in this segment, these cars are very good and hold the resale value as well as others. You cant go wrong with either one but I strongly suggest you test the 2009 Sonata as this is probably the best car in this segment and most overlooked with best warranty and the interior is as comfortable as it gets.

Q: ....................................mazda..... 6?
im getting a mazda 6 2004 . is it a good car if you have one how it is doing??? thank you for your help

A: Mazdas are a good car. they will usually last as long as a toyota . but when you need repairs they are also as expensive to fix as toyotas. they are among the most expensive do to having foreign components made overseas and not being able to easily obtain them. but overall i think you will like the car and if you have to put 1000.00 into it and it lasts ten years or more you got more than your moneys worth.

Q: How do I remove the FM antenna from my '05 mazda 6?
I know the first step is to unscrew the antenna, but what about the base?

A: I believe theres a nut and bolt holding it down from the inside. Check the interior of the car. Under the headliner, where the antenna connects up to the radio cable. Not sure of the exact size, but you will need to unbolt that to get the whole base off. Hope this helps. Are you replacing the antenna?

Q: anyone know how to disable the anti-theft system on a 2003 Mazda 6?
There's a problem with the anti-theft system. It goes off whenever I open a door, and I can't get it to go off. (Thank goodness, it goes off after about 5 minutes). Does anyone know of a way to disable the alarm until I can get it fixed? Thanks.

A: Hi if you remove both sunvisors, and remove the interior light. You will be able to drop the headlining enough to get to the microwve sensor which controls the alarm. If you disconnect this module fingers crossed it should disable the alarm. This is more then likely to be your fault. Good luck

Q: I have a 05 Mazda 6 Sports and need new tyres, do I replace them with the same or is something else better?
The tyres that are on the car are BRIDGESTONE POTEZA 17inch and they handle very well, only they do cause road noise. The most important thing for me is safety so I am happy to buy the same, but wanted to know if there are better ones I can buy? Thanks.

A: The single most important aspect of automotive safety are tires. The best that money can buy are the Michelin line of tires. They incorporate the best materials and have been on top of their game for quite sometime. My experience and the reputation of a Michelin tire is competent traction down to the tire cords. A lesser tire will loose wet weather traction when it is down to 4/10ths tread. My point here is that a Michelin will give you greater use as it wears when others lose their adhesive properties. The downside is that Michelins are expensive and they do not necessarily last longer, on balance overall performance is best in class. A decent compromise is Falken tires. The science behind a Falken tire is not as advanced as the Michelin line, but they are a brand who has a good reputation and would be in the upper middle of the pack for quality and price. My experience is that Falkens wear well and are a good choice. Goodyear has the familiar name we all know, but they are not putting out a good tire in the price range I am speaking of. The price range would be between $110 to $250 a tire. Specifically, the Goodyear RSA tires for years have been the standard oem tire for the Mazda 3 and they are a terrible compromise. Dry weather traction is decent, but let it rain, snow; it is a dangerous proposition to depend on those tires going into a corner or accelerating on wet road. You will hear about Kuhmo, Yokohama, Toyo and BF Goodrich tires. My opinion is that these tire companies specialize best in summer tires, they have decent product but nothing to rant or rave about. And of course you have experienced Bridgestone Potenza tires. My experience was premature wear on a Lexus GS 430, I would not buy a set again. Perhaps your experience was better than mine. Nevertheless, if you love someone and they are going to be in the car with you, get the best tire your money can afford. It is that important. Cheers.

Q: Has anyone ever had trouble with their Mazda 6?
Burning oil or engine problems? My son even has the extended warranty and it is up for debate, between Mazda and the extended Insurance Co.. No one wants to take responsibilty for engine failure. It's been at the dealership since June 28th.

A: Wow, you are all so uninformed with the exception of the guy who knows how good the duratec is. Yes, the 6 loses oil. One quart per 3000 miles is average. Any more than this is likely caused by a faulty PCV valve. Once the duratec suffers oil starvation anywhere for even a fraction of a second you have a spun bearing, and need a new engine. I highly highly recommend doing some reseach on www.mazda6club.com. However, please do NOT direct Mazda to this website, they send employees to troll and cause problems for the members when bring their vehicles in for warranty work because of some of their modifications (that very rarely cause any of the problems they see, and shouldn't void the warranty). Another, much less fluff and more info site is www.mazda6tech.com. It goes straight to the point about things. Here are a few good threads to get your feet wet on this issue: http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=43344 http://forum.mazda6tech.com/about2848.html&highlight=pcv http://forum.mazda6tech.com/about4271.html&highlight=pcv http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?showtopic=47902&hl=engine+replaced http://forum.mazda6tech.com/about3998.html How many miles are on the car? Do you have all of your records for oil changes? Even if you did yourself you have to save the receipts. If you are still warrantied by Mazda, do not hesitate to call corporate, they are great at resolving problems with their customers. Good luck.

Q: My 2005 Mazda 6 (40,000 miles) will not start, what could be the problem?
I still have power, the radio, lights, etc. work with no problem. For the past month the car has had trouble starting and would always take a few seconds to start while turning the key. Now it will not start at all and just "revs" over and over while turning the key. The check engine light is not on, If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!!!

A: I would check the fuel pressure sounds like the fuel pump is bad.

Q: Where can i find reversible headlight tint covers?(Mazda 6)?
What i am looking for is tinted covers for headlights that i can put on and take off as i please. Ive been looking around but i havent found any that can be taken off and put back on multiple times. ( for a Mazda 6)

A: I have seen people that convert the covers so that they can do this by using Velcro. Also, have you looked at www.jcwhitney.com???

Q: What is the best color for a Mazda 6?
All the cool kids have Blazing Copper Metallic :) Your thoughts?

A: What year are you looking at? And at what trim levels? I just bought an '07 I Touring. I had a very limited selection with colors but I know that other models (that had none of the options I wanted) had nicer colors. Can you believe there was no blue to choose from??? I like the blazing copper. I like the yellow. Black is very sleek but a pain in the ass to keep looking good. The white is actually very sharp as well but it does show dirt rather quickly. The red, mmm the red is what I wanted but there weren't any close enough to me with the options I wanted. For some of the base models, they have some new color blues that vary between a sky blue and a teal blue. There are just sooooo many colors out there to choose from and so many that look good on this car, there just can't be a best color. What did I wind up with? The new-for-this-year Smokestone. Its a combination of grey and gold. Very sharp and since it's new, everyone and their brother isn't sporting the color. Go with what makes you feel good. Go with what makes you say, "damn that's hot." And it never hurts to say something looks nice when other people may have a different opinion. I love my Smokestone 6 and wouldn't have it any other way now.
