Q: Buying an New Car help please-Civic, Mazda 3, Jetta, Matrix?
I'm going to be purchasing a new car in the next month or so. I will be driving on the highway a fair bit so i want something very reliable and good on gas. I will be doing a lot of winter driving as well. I'm interested in the civic, mazda 3, matrix, jetta, and would rather a 4 wheel drive because of winter driving but know that gas and payments will be high. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
A: In your list, only Civic, Matrix/Toyota Corolla/Pontiac Vibe, and Mazda3 stand out in terms of reliability. VW has diesel models which can save you money on gas. Honda has a very reputation for producing good-mileage cars with a very high quality and resale value. And they've been doing it for a long time. Mazda3 is a very nice and well-rounded car as well with good mileage. But they are not as reliable as the Civic.
Please note that VW, while it is a German Company, does not produce cars with qualities as good as other German brands like the BMW, Mercedes. VW's small cars, especially the Rabbit and the Jetta are good and project that yuppie image but they do not come without problems in the long-run.
The Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe is a very good alternative to the other cars because of its versatility. But it does not come with 4-wheel drive. I think for driving in the snow/ice, traction control, stability control, and ABS should be sufficient to help you drive safely.
Another one to consider is the Honda Element which comes with a full-time 4 wheel drive. Problem is, you pay for the gas.
I'm assuming you, as a prospective new car buyer, have visited websites such as Edmunds.com or Cartalk.com to get more info.
Q: I just bought a brand new Mazda 3 and i am having some problmes with the auto system anyone have any ideas?
It seems that the volume goes up and down with out anyone pressing any buttons. It turns the bass up and down and on and off and sometimes, the sound does not even reach to the back where the other passangers are. Please anyone with information I would greatly appreciate it.

Click on the unstable audio link (it is the first one). Check your vehicle VIN number to the ones listed. Apparently there is a glitch in the head unit of 2008/2008.5 mazda 3's. You will need to take it back to the dealer so that they can order and replace the defective head unit.
Q: Is the Mazda 3 built in Japan?
I know Ford owns Mazda, but does the Mazda 3 have a Ford engine or Japanese Mazda engine? Is it imported from Japan?
A: FOrd does not own mazda. They have a 30% share of them. The above poster is correct.
The 2.3L engine is the same CAST or engine block as the ford focus. However mazda designs the setup and all the insides of the engine. and from what I understand the Mazda 3 is actualy built in Japan. To be cost efective they need to cut some corners. they do this by using some parts that have been built already by their sister companys. I know if you look under the hood of my mazda 6 you will see certain parts like sensors or hoses or wiper motor ect.. that say fomoco (ford) but it is a car designed and built by mazda. these cars would be less cost effective if they had to assign engineers to built stupid little parts like that. It is no different than what you will see under the hood of a volvo or a jaguar.

Q: 2007 Mazda 3 what does the m on the automatic transmission do or stand for?
2007 Mazda 3 what does the m on the automatic transmission do or stand for
A: probably means manual shift shift mode.
Q: What's a "sexier" car - the Honda Civic (sedan) or Mazda 3?
In Australia, we only get the Honda Civic in sedan form.
For a male driver, which is sexier to drive? A Honda Civic sedan (black), or a Mazda 3 (in red)?
A: In my opinion...the Mazda 3.
However, you can make any car sexier with a few exterior modifications
Q: How do I get better gas mileage for my Mazda 3?
In automatic drive it shifts at around 2500 rpm , i wanna try the "M" mode but i dont know when to shift for better gas mileage, city driving
A: Generally speaking, car manufacturers tune the shift points in automatic transmissions for optimal efficiency / mileage. Switching to manual will invariably decrease your MPG. Why? Because you will shift late at higher rpm or lower making the engine work harder. Not saying you are a bad driver but the M setting is for performance or special circumstances or driving conditions where you don't want the transmission thinking for you. The best advice I can give is to pay attention to how you are driving, eliminate the quick starts, and maintain your car as recommended in the manual.
Q: What is the song on the Mazda 3 commercial?
It's the commercial where the 2 guys bump into each other and pick up the wrong keys. Can't make out any words but its a killer base.
A: According to Mazda "the music was post-scored specifically for the commercial. It was done by the music house Beacon Street"
Q: Which car is better the Mazda 3 s or the Scion tC?
I am looking to buy a car this month, I'm 23 this is the fist car I'm financing on my own and I want a car that will last me for a while. I have narrowed it down to the Mazda 3 s or the Scion tC, both cars have what I am looking for. So which car is better the Mazda 3 s or the Scion tC?
I know Scion is owned by Toyota and Toyota’s keep there value. But will Mazda's (built in Japan) which are owned by Ford, lose their value quickly like most Ford/American cars?
A: The Mazda 3 will have more financing options and price haggling. The scion is based upon a first time buyer's program, so you can't haggle over the price. I also know that the TC has more Horsepower and Torque, so if you're in it for the power go for the TC other than those things just look at the options. I know both are well made cars, and the fit and finish of the interiors are top notch as well.

Q: Can anyone tell me what are great all-weather tires for a Mazda 3?
My tires are getting a little long in the tooth, and I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a good set of all-weather tires. I drive a lot, and am willing to spend some money, and because I live in Seattle, I think all-weather is the way to go. Any recommendations?
